Cooper King Distillery is a self-built, crowd-funded distillery in Sutton-on-the-Forest, York, producing sustainable spirits distilled with craftsmanship, honesty and adventure. It’s the first in England to produce carbon-negative gin and the first in Europe to join environmental initiative 1% for the Planet.

Producing gin, vodka and whisky, they run on 100% green energy and are champions of sustainability. They work closely with Yorkshire farmers, distil using locally grown grain and botanicals, opted for lightweight recycled glass bottles, developed plastic free postage and plant one square metre of native English woodland for every bottle of gin sold.

Founded in 2016 by Dr Abbie Neilson, a former scientist and Chris Jaume, a chartered architect, the venture was inspired by travels to Australia and Chris’s adventurous great-great-grandfather, Charles Cooper King, whose family has rich historical ties to Yorkshire dating back to 1030.

DRY GIN

HERB GIN

Fresh basil, beautifully balanced with fragrant lemongrass and aromatic clove creates a bright, herbaceous gin. Enjoy with light Indian tonic water and a fresh basil leaf to create the Spring G&T.

PILOT SERIES NO1, NEW MAKE
Made from 100% floor-malted Maris Otter barley, this new-make spirit is double-distilled in our unique 900-litre Tasmanian copper pot still. Bottled under the Cooper King Pilot Series label, a range of small-batch, experimental releases.

There’s plenty of sweet barley and fruit on the nose, toffee pennies and a beautiful maltiness on the palate, and a long rich finish. Enjoy neat in a Glencairn whisky glass or stir up a mean Maximilian Martini.

PILOT SERIES NO2, BERRY & BASIL GIN LIQUEUR
Yorkshire raspberries and fresh basil are steeped in our award-winning Dry Gin for two months before being lightly sweetened to create a rich and fruity gin liqueur, grounded with notes of basil and warming spice.

This liqueur contains no preservatives or colourings so please store out of direct sunlight and enjoy within 6 months.

Bottled under the Cooper King Pilot Series label, a range of small-batch, experimental releases.

Try long with Indian tonic water, garnished with a fresh raspberry and slice of lime. For those with a sweeter tooth serve with lemonade in place of tonic water, or in a cocktail.

PILOT SERIES NO3, BLACK CARDAMOM BOTANICAL VODKA
Crisp and refreshing eucalyptus on the nose, followed by lively black cardamom on the palate with a hint of smoke on the finish make for an incredibly satisfying botanical vodka. Only the heart of each pod is cold-distilled to create a beautifully fresh spirit, whilst the smoky husks are reserved for use in the Smoked+Spiced Dry Gin produced in collaboration with Michelin-awarded restaurant Skosh.

Delicious served chilled over ice or perfect in a cocktail.

SKOSH SMOKED + SPICED DRY GIN
A limited-edition collaborative gin developed with Skosh, a Michelin-awarded restaurant in York.

Black cardamom, nori, mandarin and Szechuan peppercorn are beautifully layered to create a complex and full-bodied spirit. Skosh Smoked + Spiced Dry Gin is hand distilled, bottled and labelled at Cooper King Distillery in Yorkshire. Serve with Indian tonic water and a whole star anise to create the Spiced G&T.
