I’ll be honest – I have an irrational phobia of frogs and I’ve often skimmed past social media posts concerning this gin for that very reason! However, seeing a great discount code on Round of Gin (25% off) had me reconsidering my neglect of this gin and I decided to give it a go. * * The website was clear and easy to use and, before long, a bottle was winging its way to me. It took a few days to arrive, sent via second class post, but I was pleased with the results. My only criticism of the website is that I’d like to know more about the people behind the gin and more information about the botanicals and why they were chosen, but I’m a sucker for information, so maybe I’m nitpicking unnecessarily! * * The bottle itself has a really clean, classic design, and actually, the smartly dressed frog in tails and top hat is really cute! I love the text printed in metallic copper foil, tying in with the name of the distillery and the handwritten details on the reverse label give a really personal touch and that real craft distillery feel. * * The gin comes in at 42% ABV and retails at £44 a bottle, which is higher than I would usually pay for a bottle of gin, but the discount definitely helped! * * On the nose, this gin gives a bit hit of juniper and, tasting neat, that continues alongside flavours of coriander and pepper. Ice releases more warmth from the juniper, revealing a subtle savouriness to the gin. The addition of a light tonic reveals subtle citrus notes with a slight hint of liquorice in the background. I tasted with Lixir Light tonic, and this leads to an easy-drinking gin and tonic, perfect for the end of a long day!
