Hearts Distillery Claimed

5.0/5 1 Reviews Add Review

A family run business based in the Heart of Staffordshire producing small batch high-quality spirits our customers love.

Back in the 1950’s, my parents ran a small grocery shop in our village in the heart of Staffordshire. I grew up around this family business, dealing with customers and suppliers from a very early age, understanding and learning from my parents that with passion, shear hard work and determination, you can achieve anything. It was when I applied to go to Leicester to study Computer Science, at the age of 18, that I started my own business journey. Ironically there was a clerical error with my admission application and I was informed that they did not have a place for me. All the other courses had started and I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do. I noticed an advertisement in the local paper about a computer games exhibition in Birmingham.

When I arrived, I walked up to the first stall I came to and told them I was going to start a shop selling computer games. The guys looked at me, gave me 3 games, wished me luck and off I went!

Great Staffordshire Gin

I gladly stumbled on this gin distillery while working on my reviews on the Round of Gin website. It was a hard choice to choose a gin from their website which is beautifully done, with clear information and great to navigate around. This family-run distillery from the heart of Staffordshire definitely goes the extra mile in their craft gin. With speedy delivery from when purchased to the amazing way their gin is presented!

I was impressed with the packaging and bottle, I ordered the strawberry gin (which I’ll go on to talk about) and it came beautifully wrapped in red tissue paper with a personal wooden charm wrapped around it and sealed with a lovely hearts distillery sticker!

I didn’t want to open it (would be an amazing gift for someone – that extra mile we all look for in products)…

But of course, the main thing is, “did it taste nice?”. Answer: “Yes, I 100% recommend it”

I purchased Hearts special “Love” edition Gin with Strawberries for this special edition from Essington Fruit Farm. As soon as you open this beautifully crafted bottle the aromas of strawberry, almost like a strawberry jam smell hits you. Very fruity and fresh. This aromatic Hearts strawberry gin gives you a warming rush of spicy notes. The taste of black pepper followed subtle tones of juniper reminding you it’s a gin, not a liqueur. But this deliciously smooth and sweet strawberry gin has definitely got bold strawberry sweetness bursting the whole way through with a sweet. This gin is 42% abv and it doesn’t have that normal warmth you find with most dry gins so it’s delicious on its own, or to add a fruity touch to your G&T or cocktails. I served mine topped with Prosecco (would be great with Champagne too). I

I also really enjoyed it over ice with an elderflower tonic and garnished with a fresh strawberry. For £18 this gin is definitely one to have in your collection.
