Isle of Møn Spirits was founded in 2016. They live and work in a small farm in Askeby on Møn, Denmark, where they have rebuilt the stables into their distillery. Here they sort the forage of the day by hand and distill the botanicals separately.
Further information about this distillery and the products they sell will be available soon.
Let us start with the bottle: We love it!
It is square, has a label displaying an old map of Møn and a cork. It sort of looks like a bottle message. It holds 44 % but when you smell it you would think it was stronger. You can really smell the botanicals which we think is lovely. We tasted it neat and what hit us at first was the angelicaroot and then the other botanicals sort of sneak up on you – although we don’t know what half of them are – which makes it even more interesting, because your taste buds are faced with a real challenge.
We paired it with Isle of Møn organic tonic. Although we find the tonic to be a little bit too bitter for our taste it is a very nice and different gin & tonic. The fact that it is handmade and all the botanicals are gathered locally partly makes up for the rather expensive price – DKK 425.- for 500 ml.
