Masons Distillery all began in North Yorkshire’s small market town of Bedale. Having tried lots of other gins whilst in pursuit of a gin that tasted different and wasn’t just a different label, their founders, Karl and Cathy Mason, decided to take matters into their own hands and create their very own!
Further information about this distillery and the products they sell will be available soon.
When Karl Mason started a gin page on Facebook in 2012 he didn’t think it would lead to him opening up a gin distillery, but just a few years later he did with wife Catherine. Located in Aiskew near Bedale, Yorkshire is a key part of the brands identity, and this was original location of the distillery.
With the help of the English Spirit Company, Masons Yorkshire Dry Gin was released on World Gin Day, 15th June 2013.
The distillery began operation in June 2014, using 200 litre stills Steve and Leftie, using Harrogate Spring Water to reduce the spirit down to the required strength.
Sadly on 2nd April 2019 tragedy struck, and the distillery was engulfed by fire. Thankfully they had help from distillers nationwide and they were able to continue production. They decided to turn this devastation into an opportunity to expand and opened their new distillery at Leeming Bar in March 2020 .
The latest release from Masons is their Special Edition Raspberry gin. This was launched on 1st February 2021 and retails at £34.00 and currently comes with free shipping.
On the nose it has the aroma of real raspberry, and nothing too sweet and false. The taste is soft juniper, raspberry and finishing with a hit of citrus which creates a flavoursome, fruity gin. Serve with Indian tonic water and garnishing with fresh raspberries
