Rascal Claimed

4.7/5 2 Reviews Add Review

Ex teacher, turned booze enthusiast, formerly of Tinker Gin, flies solo. March 2019 saw the bottling of the first first small batch, having smashed in all the credit credit cards to make it happen. Fuelled by passion and sincerity (and gin).

Passionate about Gin!

Rascal Gin is a Liverpool based distiller which is very close to where I live. Its run by Dan who has poured his heart and soul into his Gins and the results are brilliant. I have both editions of his gin, the Original in the Brown bottle, and the Blood & Passion in the Orange bottle. Both Gins have passionfruit as the base, and this workes really well with the juniper. The original is fresh and delicious and dry. The Blood & Passion is very bold and bright, and the flavours are very strong. I prefer the original of the two but both are great gins. I am looking forward to their new developments. These Gins are £36 on their website and are an excellent quality gin.

Passion Fruit Heaven

I was privileged to meet the lovely ex-teacher turned distiller, Dan Walsh, at the Gin and Rum Festival in Chelmsford back in April 2019. He told us about his gin journey and educated us about the joys of Schweppes tonic. I left the festival with a bottle of Batch 1 Rascal Gin and after finishing two bottles can unequivocally say it is a firm favourite with me as well as visitors to the Parlour!

This tropical craft gin has a strong passion fruit scent, with hints of citrus and a touch of raspberry. My perfect serve is paired with Schweppes Crisp tonic water and garnished with a wedge of pink grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary. I have paired with other premium tonics, but have found that the effervescence of Schweppes compliments the flavours of this beautiful gin the best!

I recently purchased Rascal Gin’s new edition, Blood and Passion; this still has the passion fruit hallmark, but the addition of blood orange to the blend results in a less sweet version. The suggested serve for this new Rascal was in a spritz, so, as I opened the bottle on National Prosecco Day, I decided to top with a little of the sparkly stuff! The result was a refreshing, light libation with a glorious hint of passion fruit and orange.

My second serve was neat over ice, what a marvellous treat for my taste buds!!

These delicious craft gins are very well priced and delivery was fast and efficient. I would highly recommend their addition to any discerning gin collection.
