Husband and wife team, Andy & Zoe Arnold-Bennett, launched Shed 1 Distillery from their 7×7 foot Garden Shed in 2016, and moved to The Old Calf Shed in 2019.
We produce classically distilled, contemporary-style gins, gin marmalade & full strength, and traditional-strength gin liqueurs.
The Old Calf Shed was shortlisted in The World Gin Awards, “Best Visitor Attraction” and here you can Make Your Own Gin (Bath Tub and Distilled), enjoy a botanical-inspired Afternoon G&Tea, and take a Distillery Tour & Tasting. All experiences must be booked.
If you can’t make it to the Shed, we host online Gin Tastings and have created an Interactive Make Your Own Bath Tub Gin Tin
The Distillery and Old Calf Shed Bar are also licensed Wedding Venues. A perfect place for gin lovers to tie the knot.
We’ve achieved many awards including Great Tastes, Crafdi and a Bronze at The World Gin Awards. Our Gin Jelly Marmalade has also been awarded Great Tastes and Silver at the World Marmalade Awards.
We take sustainability very seriously and in 2020 we won The Gin Guide’s Small Producer Environmental Sustainability Award.
The first gin we created was Cuckold’s Revenge:
Cuckold’s Revenge is named after Andy’s character, the cuckolded Master Ford in Merry Wives, which he toured with Northern Broadsides in 2016. It received a 2-Star (Outstanding) Great Taste Award. The judges described it as, An interesting and beguiling blend of aromatics, soft and mysterious, delivering layers of Citrus and Spice with a lovely warming finish. Botanicals include green cardamom, coriander, nutmeg, fresh orange and lemon zest.
Cuckold’s is also featured in the latest edition of “101 Gins to Try Before You Die”, and was Highly Commended in the Craft Distillery Expo Gin of the Year Awards (2019/20) in the Contemporary Gin Category. 44%abv
