Stockholms Bränneri is situated in an old Jaguar workshop on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden. In the old workshop, they create Stockholm’s first craft gin, inspired by our Nordic heritage. They are influenced by the natural, but also architectural, elements of their surroundings, driven by curiosity.
The bottle is gorgeous! It looks exactly like an old medicine bottle and even has a cork for cap.
The initial smell is very subtle and that is why the first sip neat took us by surprise as we find it to taste much stronger than it smells – and also it only holds 40 %. It has sort of a freshness to the taste that we suspect comes from the elderflowers. But we also think it has a very strong taste of angelica root. After a few sips neat the elderflower becomes more dominant though.
We paired it with Fever-Tree Elderflower tonic water and that made a good pairing. The result was a gin & tonic where you could still taste the ingredients in the gin, but it turned into a really nice summer cocktail, that was very easy to drink.
The bottle contains 500 ml. and can be purchased for around DKK 295. I (Carina) was lucky enough to receive it as a gift from good friends.
