Elg Gin distilled in Fredensborg, Denmark.
A juniper core gin, with a hint of coriander, an earthy sweetness and pepper undertones.
Gin No. 1 has won awards, including a double gold at CWSA 2017 and Silver Outstanding at IWSC 2016 & 2018.
Elg Gin No.1 contains only three botanicals: juniper berries, coriander seeds and Danish carrots. That’s right, a carrot and the whole carrot too! I mean normally I’m used to seeing at least 7 botanicals, so when I saw this I was a little taken back, I mean carrots! No wonder it has won awards and this really is a great craft gin. You will have to excuse my bad photo of this gin, it was a quick snap and before I knew it I had finished the bottle… So that says a lot, right?
This gin is just a beautiful example of a craft gin, totally different and unique. When you open the bottle it has a new scent for a gin, fresh carrots but don’t let that put you off as its a sweet smell and not an earthy one like you could imagine.
With the taste being unique it’s lovely just served plain with lots of ice, or with a nice tonic. I also found this gin was amazing to use in the different cocktails because of the remarkable taste.
This has a good price starting at £30 and available on a few online stores!
