Three Wrens Gin Distillery

4.5/5 2 Reviews Add Review

Our master distiller and owner, Nick, has spent 20 years in the drinks & spirits industry. His career started in Manchester where he was award-winning mixologist, running high-end bars and competing in cocktail competitions all over the world. Nick then became a cocktail bar owner, and more recently held the position of brand manager for a global, award-winning gin.

The location of our distillery is pretty incredible, and we are lucky to be surrounded by outstanding countryside. Ancient woodlands with up to 50 edible plant varieties of roots, shrubs and flowers, are all within a few minutes walk. We are able to grow our own herbs and flowers to use in the gins we make, and we pick them from literally right outside our doors.

We were honoured to be awarded a Gold Medal at the World Gin Awards in January 2020, for our apple crumble edition. This was the first competition we had entered and was judged by the UK’s top spirits experts, drinks critics and distillers.

Bison Grass Gin
5.0.0

Superb tasting Bison Grass Gin from Three Wrens Gin Distillery, based in the beautiful Cheshire Country side is incredibly the first gin ever to be flavoured with sweet grass ‘Hierochloe Odorata’ (a type of Bison Grass to you and me) which is actually grown at the Three Wrens Gin Distillery in Cheshire, England. Where you can always find Head Distiller Nick hard at work producing some of the finest Gins around. The Gin is produced with 13 different botanicals, before being further infused with bison grass. The Three Wrens Distillery likes to source its botanicals locally, and all the bison grass used to infuse this gin is grown at the distillery. So, that’s pretty local don’t you think? The liquid itself comes packaged in the most elegant looking bottle. I just love it. On my first tasting of this superb Gin I had a little taste nest and the Gin is bursting with notes of lime, fresh hay, lemongrass and juniper and is an absolute pleasure to the taste buds. For a really sensational Serve and to create a wonderfully Flash tasting Gin Fizz try the following:- 60ml Bison Grass Gin 75ml Fizz (I used champagne) 15ml lime juice 50ml Sicilian lemonade Dash of cranberry juice Passion fruit/ Lime Garnish Or This Gin is absolutely delicious served chilled in a Copa Gin Glass just add lots of ice, 50ml Bison Grass Gin, 150 Elderflower tonic (l used Fevertree Tonic Water) slice of fresh apple. With an ABV of 41.5% and priced at around £37 for a 70cl bottle this is most certainly a must try Gin and will most definitely have a place in my Gin Cabinet!

Original Dry, Apple Crumble and Rhubarb
4.0.0

Distillery: Three Wrens distillery is located within rural Cheshire, surrounded by woodland and beautiful countryside. Run by master distiller Nick, Three Wrens distillery opened its doors in April 2019. Each of the Three Wrens gin range are sold in stunning bottles of various striking colours. All are adorned with the exceptionally elegant Three Wrens logo, which has the signature trio of golden wrens flying above the text on the bottle.

Original Dry: A beautiful dry gin, this is distilled using local water from Peckforton spring.

Containing ingredients such as saffron, lemon balm and apple mint. It tastes elegant, well balanced and is pleasingly graceful on the pallet. With bursts of citrus and soft vanilla, it is ideally served over ice with a slice of pink grapefruit. It truly is delicious and remains one of our favourite dry gins. A definite must-have for any gin shelf! Apple Crumble: This edition has flavours of juniper, toasted oats, local apples, cinnamon, Demerara sugar and orange peel, and won a U.K. gold medal at this year’s World Gin Awards. We found this too sweet for our tastes, but delightful for someone who appreciates the dessert!

Rhubarb: This edition contains locally sourced rhubarb, cassia, ginger and has a citrus element with the inclusion of sweet orange peel. A nice rhubarb gin, but not particularly a favourite of ours. We would imagine however, that this would most certainly be a must-have for the rhubarb lovers amongst us!

Price Point for all: £37.50 for a 70cl bottle, which we feel is fair due to the naturally sourced ingredients within the gin, the beautiful bottles, and the overall high quality of the gin. Delivery: The delivery of our box took some time, but this order was placed during the initial lockdown period, so the delay may have been for that reason.
